Father Andrew was born in Chorley and received his early education at St. Gregory's Primary School and then he studied at the Catholic College, Preston.
He trained for the priesthood at St. Mary's Seminary, Oscott and then the Beda College in Rome. Whilst in Rome, he studied for a degree in theology at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas, known as the Angelicum.
He was ordained deacon on 19th March, 1998 at St. Mary's, Wigan, where he remained until his priestly ordination, also at St. Mary's, on 18th September, 1998.
He was appointed as assistant priest at St. Jude's in October 1998 and remained there until November 2000, before being transferred to Sacred Heart, Wigan.
