January:  In what has become a parish tradition, on Sunday 12th January, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, a special celebration took place in church. Parents, godparents, family and friends of all who had been baptised in the previous twelve months were invited to come along to celebrate the 10.30 a.m. Mass together and to give thanks to God, our Father.

The Mass was concelebrated by some twenty priests and was very well-attended by Father Pat's parishioners and friends. Among the congregation were the Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan.

The celebrations continued in the Social Club, where an evening of food and entertainment was enjoyed by one and all, and where presentations were made to Father Pat, including a Papal Blessing, a beautiful scroll depicting all the parishes at which he had served over the years, and a cheque for a sum that he later described as "most generous".
